The reason is that you would not want it to be too runny when you are using it to dye your hair. When mixing is sure that you have a good consistency. The mixture will have to sit and rest for twenty minutes. You can also let it rest for thirty minutes. It will dry up if it sits for more than thirty minutes.
Step 4. Dye release:
When allowing the indigo to sit for dye release do not continuously mix it. After you achieve dye release, you will notice a dark, metallic-type top layer. Immediately you move the top layer away, you will see the lighter green shade. At this stage, the indigo paint is ready to use. You can either add it directly to your henna paste that has already been sitting and available and has achieved dye release to achieve those reddish-brown tones, maybe a nice medium brown tone or dark brown tones.
If not used in that way you are going to be using it alone as a second step after you have achieved making a pure black-orange treatment on your hair. Because indigo is fussy and does not always take to your hair the first time, it is normal that you need a second or third application. Therefore do not give up on the indigo and the henna process
