From the height, the view seems like a big rainbow on the ground with the surroundings of Himalayan Peaks. It got its status as a national park in the year 1982 and was recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site in the year 2005.

This area is also the habitat of endangered Himalayan species like blue sheep, snow leopards, red fox, brown bear, musk deer, and Asiatic black deer.

How to Reach At Valley of Flowers  

This heavenly place is situated in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The Chamoli is known for its natural beauty. From the surroundings, you can view green forest valleys and Himalayan peaks. There are various ways to reach the starting point, which is the Govind Ghat base camp. To arrive at the Govind Ghat first, you have to reach Haridwar, which is the Gateway for the Garhwal region in Uttarakhand state. All the major cities connect Haridwar.

By Road:

Haridwar is strongly connected with all nearby major cities like Delhi, Jaipur, and Lucknow. You can reach Haridwar by the government as well as private buses easily. After arriving early in the morning before 8:00 am the various government and private buses are available for Govind Ghat. It will take 11-12 hrs to reach from there depending upon the traffic conditions.

By Air:

The nearest domestic airport, Jolly Grant Airport is 20 km away from Haridwar. This airport is well connected with all major airports and strongly correlated with Delhi by air. So from there, you can hire a private tourist taxi which will drop you at Govind Ghat or you can take public transport.

By Train:

Haridwar railway station is one of the major railway stations of Uttarakhand. It is well connected with all major train routes of India. From the railway station, you can hire a private cab or take a bus according to availability.

  • 1st Day – Haridwar to Govind Ghat Base Camp
  • 2nd Day – Govind Ghat to Ghangaria Trekking
  • 3rd Day – Ghangariya to Valley of Flowers and return
  • 4th Day – Ghangariya to Hemkund Sahib and return
  • 5th Day – Ghangariya to Govind Ghat
  • 6th Day – Govind Ghat to Haridwar

It requires five nights and six days to visit the Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib. Both places are so beautiful. At the Valley of Flowers, you will feel the natural richness, and at Hemkund Sahib, you will seek the blessings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who was the tenth guru of Sikhism.

Best Time to Visit:

Valley of Flowers opens for visitors each year during the first week of June and closes in the last week of October. In the monsoon season and winters due to extreme cold and heavy snowfall valley remains closed. It is a public park area, so the timings of opening and closing are fixed. Stay, or camping is not allowed.

Some Tips:

Finally, since it is a public park area, there are not any kind of food points available in it. So before going there, pack your food and water. As a responsible citizen, do not leave any garbage in the valley; it will harm the vegetation, flora & fauna. Carry plastic bags with you to collect your waste and dispose of it at the proper place. As you will roaming in the wilderness. So try to avoid activities that harm animals and nature.
